Custom Sliding Door -Part 2

Today we install this custom sliding door! A steel frame is sandwiched with etched colored glass. Jim our client (he and his wife are the nicest people by the way!) builds recumbent bicycles and helped with the system to fasten the glass. It was scary assembling the door but I think it turned out great! Take a look.

Some of these are pretty cool. Love the thought process and ingenuity that people have with some of these designs. Really cool table at the 55 second mark.

Getting close to finishing construction of a large testing facility. I had my handy GoPro with me and thought I would try it out and show a quick project walk-through. It is always fun to see a project come together!

Electrified Wood

This cool experiment by artist Melanie Hoff shows what a little electricity can do to plywood. Well, maybe not a little -how about 15,000 volts. It’s mesmerizing to watch and interesting that the path of the electricity creates root-like burns. I can certainly see this as an accent wall piece in a project!

The Home Office of the Future

I wish I had something like this… wait, I do! It is fun to look back and see what was anticipated in our future. Not unlike Captain Kirk’s tricorder which evolved into our cell phones, the ‘office of tomorrow’ had some good guesses.

The Hidden Drawer

Kudos to local craftsman Brian Grabski for creating this fun mechanism that opens a hidden drawer. I love this kind of stuff! This whole video was shot with an iPhone to get into the tight spaces. See more of Brian’s work at Designed & Made Custom Woodworking.
