Podcast #40 – The Interior Designer

MGH_20150916_0002Does the thought of taking on a construction project seem overwhelming? Who is going to help with all of those interior decisions that need to be made – and make things not only function correctly but beautiful as well? Today I interview Interior Designer Ann Ludwig Allied Member ASID. Her company, All Design Group, is located in the western Wisconsin in the east Twin Cities metro. Here are some of the things we discuss:

-What is the difference between an Interior Designer and Interior Decorator?
-How do people find the right Interior Designer?
-How do you work – what is the process?
-Is the approach different for remodeling projects versus new construction?
-What trends are you seeing today?

Hudson Remodel Part VI

Demolition! For those of you who think taking out a wall, putting in a bathroom, etc. is easy, cheap and will take a weekend… Check out the actual amount of demolition work needed. When they tore up the old wood floor, there were literally thousands of staples that need to be pulled from the subfloor. I felt so bad for the guy doing it! But it is nice to see progress happening!

New Project! – Yep, on my own house…

A problem into an opportunity? Well maybe… I have a window head that for some reason is starting to bow out causeing the window to warp and I think water is getting in behind the siding. I decided rather than just fixing the problem, why not add a bit more money and build a screened porch. It is one of those things that can come in really handy around here given our mosquito population. Follow along!
