The progress continues. From exterior concrete to interior trim. Still about 3 months away from completion but it’s getting there.

Today we look at some of the interior design on this project. These studies are meant to be gestures and not necessarily the final design. We have found using these visuals is as helpful to us as we develop them as to the client -providing them something to react to. Thanks for watching!

I stopped by a residential project we have underway. This was a remodeling where we developed a master plan with work that can be phased. Feel free to look at past videos on this project for that process. The framing is almost complete and you can start to get a sense of the massing and scale – both on the exterior and interior. New project! In this video we take a look at the early design process. I typically do the early plan drawings by hand. This allows me to really think as I put pen to paper and not worry about making mistakes or testing ideas. We also begin to look at the exterior massing including window placement, textures and colors. Take a look!

Phase One is underway! The existing garage has been removed and the kitchen, dining and living room areas have been demolished. Framing has started with our fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate!

Complete…almost. We drove down to South Dakota to do a final walk-thru (punchlist) of the transit facility. It was cold and windy – as you will hear unfortunately in the video. The contractor was still installing some metal panels and other odds and ends so it was hard to generate a complete list of items to be corrected prior to the grand opening. Overall, I think it is looking pretty good and the client is happy. Can’t ask for much more then that! Take a look!

Stopped by one of our residential projects to see how things were going. Good to see the painting crew that painted my house. Nice guys and they do a great job.

I love the diversity of projects we are able to work on. We were asked to design a skyway bridge and associated stair/elevator tower. The skyway would connect a well known building with a parking ramp. One of the challenges was that the ramp will eventually be replaced and the adjacent open block will be developed… all may want to connect to the elevator tower. We had to try to design some flexibility within the stair tower that could work with different floor levels engaging it. Take a look at the video to see the design progress!

We are fortunate to be doing several projects for the county park system. Here is a video with our first project under construction. This one is important because it will set the aesthetic tone that other park projects will need to follow. Take a look!

I did a quick site visit to a new home we have under construction. The home is framed and windows were being installed. It’s always fun to watch a design become reality.

Margaret Park is an urban park in St Paul, Minnesota. I was asked by the City of St Paul Parks and Recreation to participate in community meetings to help redevelop the park which needed some enhancements. Below is a video of my final walk through of a small toilet room building we designed.
